Post-graduate study is the kind of training of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff in the system of postdiploma study which is being implemented according to the respective specialties of the «List of Scientific Degrees of Armenia» of the High Certifying Commission (HCC) of RA.
Post-graduate study is the kind of training of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff in the system of postdiploma study which is being implemented according to the respective specialties of the «List of Scientific Degrees of Armenia» of the High Certifying Commission (HCC) of RA. Postgraduate is called a student having master’s degree or diploma of a qualified specialist who is passing postgraduate study with the aim to prepare a dissertation paper for taking a scientific degree of candidate of sciences (Ph.D.). The start and the end of postgraduate courses are being arranged by the order of the Minister of Education and Science of RA.
Only those citizens that have MD, or degree of diploma are eligible for applying for post-gradute study. The study of foreign citizens is conducted in both internal and external paid courses. The duration of the internal and external courses do not exceed 3 and 4 years respectively. Education fees. Foreign citizens, as well as non-citizens enter the post-graduate paid course of this or that institution or organization based on intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements or contracts as well as by their own initiative. Health insurance in the Republic of Armenia is mandatory.
Admission to post graduate course is in September-October. A selection committee headed by the rector/vice-rector/head of institution is formed to organize the admission process. Highly qualified scientists and scientist-pedagogues are involved in it. Applicants are supposed to pass examination on their profession, foreign language (English, French, German) and a test on informatics and/or Computer skills. The last 2 exams must follow the one on their profession.
Application for post-graduate course entrance with all necessary documents (copy of diplomas, abstract, personal record, photos, certificates of tests of Foreign language and Informatics) must be addressed to the University Rector. Applicants are not allowed to re-examination. They are notified of their entrance or failure within 5 days after the decision of the admission committee. Admission to post graduate course is arranged by the order of university rector or head of organization. During the study students must pass qualification exams in accordance with the orders confirmed by HCC.
Doctors study in the internal course which must not exceed 3 years. Only citizens of the Republic of Armenia that have Ph.D. degree are eligible to apply. Foreign citizens, as well as non-citizens enter the doctorate course of this or that institution or organization based on intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements or contracts as well as by their own initiative. Applicants must submit a basic or applied research project of scientific, economical, social-cultural importance for the university or ogranization. Application with all necessary documents must be addressed to the university rector or head of institution.
The corresponding department of the institution/organization submits a conclusion based on the discussion of all the documents. In case of positive result, the scientific or scientific technical council of the institution discusses the coclusion and makes decision on admission to doctorate study which is confirmed by the university rector/head of institution/orgaization. In case of 2 and more applicants, the selection is made by the scientific, scientific-technical council of the institution which decides the possible final date of the dissertation based on the applicant's extended plan. During the doctorate course, students must implement their anticipated individual program, complete the dissertation and hold its approbation. The scientific, scientific-technical councils certify them for 1 time annually, based on the reports of the students' programs. Those failing in certification are excluded from the course. In case of having valid reason they are allowed to restore his/her course within the a year by the order of the rector/head.
