On the agenda of the regular session of YSMU Scientific Council, held on the 27 June 2012, were the elections of the heads of departments and professorship.
Newly elected heads of departments were:
- Department of Hygiene and Ecology: Professor Larisa R. Avetisyan, Doctor of Medical Science
- Department of Paediatric Surgery: Professor Ara S. Babloyan, Doctor of Medical Science
- Department of Ophthalmology: Professor Alexander S. Malayan, Doctor of Medical Science
- Department of Medical Microbiology: Professor Vladimir A. Shekoyan, Doctor of Medical Science, RA Honoured Scientist
- Department of Plastic Surgery at the Faculty of Postgraduate Education: Associate Professor Artavazd B. Sahakyan, Candidate of Medical Science
- Department of Emergency Cardiology at the Faculty of Postgraduate Education: Professor Hamayak S. Sisakyan, Doctor of Medical Science
Professorships were awarded to:
- Department of Ophthalmology: Marine. L. Shahsuvaryan, Doctor of Medical Science
- Department of Ophthalmology: Armen H. Vardanyan, Doctor of Medical Science
Marina R. Tatoyan from the Department of Histology was awarded Associate Professorship.
