Yerevan State Medical University hosts multiple events having outgrown into festive traditions. One of them entitled “Friendship beyond Multi-Ethnicity” was held at the university administrative foyer. University international students from sixteen countries represented their national cuisine in separate pavilions; furthermore, this joyful event was accompanied by the brief outline informing about the motherlands of those participating; namely about Belarus, Georgia, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and the U.S. Armenian cuisine and Artsakh culinary traditions were also briefly outlined.
National dances added more flavor and colour to this festive and “tasty” ceremony. University Rector, Prof. Dumanyan, being deeply impressed by the event which was outstanding and excellently organized, stated that the university is a melting pot of diverse ethnicities in terms of hosting the overwhelming majority of international students in the country, and noticed that intercultural communication is best achieved through similar events and initiatives aiming at creating friendship across different cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Dr. Karen Avagyan - Deputy of the National Assembly and Coordinator of the Board of Trustees of Youth Foundation of Armenia – underlined that the university welcomes even more students from different corners of the world per annum.
This memorable event was organized jointly on the initiative of Youth Foundation of Armenia and University Student Parliament. The culmination of this multi-ethic bridge building event was the degustation of delicious dishes revealing the introduction of a number of ingredients and cooking styles.
