The new academic year in 2011 was marked with the warm welcome reception by the YSMU Rector, Professor Derenik Dumanyan shown to the first-year medical students.
“I have the pleasure to congratulate you on entering the university. With the field you have chosen, you show you can overcome the seemingly impossible; field, requiring your complete dedication; field, in which you show how strongly you care about the lives of others. We are very glad to welcome you and do everything for you to acquire excellent professional knowledge and skills. In addition to our efforts in working with you, you should be very diligent while preparing for your studies, be highly organized, and serve as best ambassadors of our university wherever you are – a university, 30000 graduates of which have had great contribution not only in the Armenian health care sector development, but also that of other countries throughout the whole world,” in his welcome address the Rector, Professor Derenik Dumanyan stated.
“Referring to the university classes,” the Rector said, “let me underline that no excuses will be accepted for missing the lessons. Moreover, these students will face numerous complications on their path including the exepelling from the university, as being a physician is a thorough, accurate and unbiased learning and training process. You should know and fulfill your rights and duties going forth from here and maintaining loyalty to the best traditions of the medical university.”
First-year medical students were also introduced to the university administration afterwards and met with the deans and the staff of the university faculties.
