After completing the compulsory medical training in the Faculty of General Medicine, the Faculty of Stomatology and the Faculty of Pharmacy, YSMU students are obliged to get further practical experience as interns. This 11-months training is compulsory for the students of medicine and only after obtaining it they can get the license for medical practice.
According to the compulsory curriculum of a doctor or pharmaceutical chemist of general practice, the medical interns are trained in the following disciplines:
The interns extend their theoretical and practical knowledge under the guidance of YSMU departmental professors and, also, obtain practical skills in medical centers, hospitals, out-patient departments, as well as hospitals under RA MoD and in pharmacies under the supervision of leading specialists of the above-mentioned specialties.
After mastering the curriculum and passing their finals, the interns are granted special certificates, which allow them to practice in the field of practical health care.
The graduates of medical educational institutions from other countries can also be trained at YSMU as interns.
