International students are allowed to do a residency at the Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) if they have an appropriate diploma of higher medical education (MD, MBBS, Dental MD, and/or Pharmacy).
Admission to the program occurs twice annually. In order to begin the residency in October, the appropriate papers (listed below) should be submitted before the September 25th deadline; in order to be considered for admission to the March residency program, the papers should be submitted before the February 25th deadline.
Before beginning the residency, each applicant is required to take 100 tests in chosen specialty, a language test at YSMU; the test is not necessary if the applicant can show proof of prior study (i.e. certified course certificates) in the chosen language (Armenian, Russian or English).
All of the following papers must be received on or before the above mentioned deadlines for consideration of the application:
- Application form
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Certified copies of all diplomas awarding relevant degrees (originals will have to be presented upon matriculation)
- Academic Transcript(s) (including subjects, hours and grades for all courses)
- Certified copy of passport (including all pages that have a mark or stamp on them)
- Medical records detailing the health state of the applicant (including HIV test)
- Health insurance
- Six (6) passport-sized photos (4x6).
The papers should be validated in the Armenian embassy and at the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia.
If there is no embassy in the given country, then the papers should be validated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
The fee for the residency must be paid for the I term before the beginning of the residency.
All the students must have health insurance during the period of study.
