Israeli professor is willing to assist
Professor Eldad Ben-Chetrit, Head of Rheumatology Unit and FMF Clinic of Hadassah University Hospital EinKarem (Jerusalem, Israel) delivered a lecture on «Colchicine and Familial Mediterranean Fever - practical therapeutic problems» at the Yerevan state Medical University.
During the meeting with the well-renowned specialist YSMU rector, Professor Derenik Dumanyan expressed his contentment that university doctors and other Armenian specialists will have a chance to gain knowledge and experience of the Israeli colleague. Rector mentioned that his plans include establishment of the Familial Mediterranean Fever Centre on the basis of the university clinics.
'The problem is obvious, and we are planning serious research and practical works in this direction. In this regard, your visit was well-timed and your support will be greatly appreciated», said Prof. Dumanyan.
Prof. Eldad Ben-Chetrit kindly agreed, mentioning that he already has such an experience with a similar center in Germany. «It will be easier to do the same in A, since Armenian doctors know more about the disease and are good professionals," said the Israeli professor.
Prof. Ben-Chetrit had a quite busy working day. The lecture was very informative, based on his own experience. FMF has a big prevalence among Jews, thus for many years now an extensive research is carried out in Israel to find better treatment solutions of the disease.
After the lecture Prof. Ben-Chetrit visited the "Muratsan" university hospital, where he saw several FMF patients, consulted their doctors and suggested treatment options. By the end he also visited the diagnostic laboratory of the university.
