The Yerevan State Medical University Council held its meeting on April 30, 2011 under the Chairmanship of RA Minister of Education and Science, Dr. Armen Ashotyan. The agenda for the meeting was the election of the university rector.
Candidate for the election, Professor Derenik Dumanyan, presented his vision and plans for the university further development and future reforms.
Council members - the Chairman of NA Standing Committee - Dr. Ara Babloyan, RA Minister of Diaspora – Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan, RA First Deputy-Minister of Health – Mr. Hayk Darbinyan, YSMU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs – Prof. Vladimir Shekoyan, Director of Yerevan State Basic Medical College – Dr. M. Mkrtchyan supported the candidature outlining the working path, experience and essential competencies of Prof. Dumanyan.
All the 32 members of the Council participated in the meeting and election. The votes were represented as 31 votes for his candidacy and one ballot against the candidacy of the acting rector, hence resulting in the election of Derenik Dumanyan as the Rector of Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi.
Chairman of the Board, RA Minister of Education and Science, Dr. Armen Ashotyan assured the Council’s support in university’s further development and wished fruitful and productive work to the newly elected rector.
