Education
Teaching is conducted for last year students of all YSMU faculties in the form of lectures and practical classes the latter being organized in the as cyclic classes. Various didactic materials are used for increasing the visualization of the teaching process.
Research projects
Research project comprises the investigation of:
- immunogenesis regulatory mechanisms,
- ions transporting system of human lymphocytes,
- neuroendocrine and immune system’s interaction in normal and different pathological conditions,
- the role of anti-inflammatory response in the development and course of diseases with systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
For the first time the department staff, together with the Biochemistry Institute, has revealed the role of hemorphins in neuroendocrine interactions and shown, that hemorphins modulate calmodulin dependent modes in immune systems in the same mechanisms as in brain. Disorders of neuroendocrine and immune systems’ interaction in various pathologies and postoperative interferences are as well revealed at the department. A current issue in medicine is considered to be the study of ion transporting systems, playing a great role in the activation and functioning of lymphocytes. To a great extent lymphocyte dysfunctions are determined by the change in ionic transportation Ca2+, H+, K+ and Na+, playing an important role in a number of physiological processes. The disturbance of the conjugated flow of the ions Ca2+, H+, K+ and Na+ in the process of tumor growth and postoperative interference has been revealed. The presence of dependent K+/Ca2+ and independent Ca2+ K+ /H+ exchange in human lymphocytes is shown for the first time. The role of anti-inflammatory response in the course and outcome of crush-syndrome is represented in the workings the faculty undertakes.
