International Relations at YSMU
From the very first day of its foundation, YSMU has had great respect for the standards and practices of sister institutions of medicine worldwide and has a rich history concerning its activity in the international arena. YSMU is dedicated to training highly qualified specialists not only for the Republic of Armenia (RA) and regional countries (Russia, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Georgia, etc.), but also many other countries worldwide.
The World Health Organization recognizes YSMU as the only state medical university of the Republic of Armenia. The University is included in the World Directory of Medical Schools. YSMU is also recognized by the medical councils of India and Sri Lanka.
The University has established various contacts with medical schools and health care organizations of several countries and international organizations in the areas of medical education and health care. Since 2000 YSMU has a membership in a number of international organizations, namely:

YSMU is also included in various international educational and scientific programs, such as programs of Tacis-Tempus and World Bank.
As a result of such extensive cooperation worldwide, numerous faculty and student exchange programs have been established. A great number of students have completed short-term internships abroad, which considerably promote the education of leaders in this period of globalization and internationalization. Every year several teachers from Armenia complete graduate and postgraduate education programs at renowned clinics and universities around the world.
The university administration does comprehend the importance of international collaboration and its benefits. Therefore, cooperation agreements have been signed and reviewed between YSMU and various well-known medical universities in Europe and the USA, including:
